Job summary

Accendra Health is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide hybrid care across southwestern Pennsylvania. You will perform home visits for oxygen and ventilation equipment, educate patients and families, and coordinate with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

The role requires PA RT licensure with CPR, a valid driver’s license, and comfort with mobile documentation. Expect flexible scheduling and meaningful in‑home patient support opportunities.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with PA RT license active
• OH/VA RT license is a plus or willingness to obtain
• Valid driver's license
• Hold a current CPR Certification

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment including oxygen therapy and ventilation
• Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and gather vital signs

Why is this Respiratory Therapist role different

This role provides a balanced mix of office and field work across southwestern Pennsylvania, offering high flexibility in scheduling and on-call expectations. Ideal for RTs who enjoy autonomy, patient education, and a supportive hands-on workflow.

Key highlights

• Work Arrangement: 50% office, 50% road.
• Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; flexible.
• Driving Distance: Covers all southwestern PA up to Interstate 80; rare support to OH & VA.

Salary range

• $34 – $37 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

On-Call transparency

• 1–2 weekdays per week plus weekends; mostly phone-based support with flexibility.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
• Performs other duties as required

What We Look For

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active PA RT license. OH & VA RT License is a plus or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
• Hold a current CPR Certification
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
