Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn seeks a full-time Respiratory Therapist II to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction. The role includes ventilator management, arterial blood gas analysis, and meticulous documentation of patient progress.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff, perform sputum induction, nitric oxide therapy, chest physiotherapy, and education for team members.

Qualifications

• New York State Respiratory Therapist Licensure is required.
• AAS in Respiratory Therapy or graduate of a 2-year AMA approved program is required.
• CRT certification is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• NRP is required to work in NICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for adults, pediatrics, and neonates under physician direction.
• Make rounds to ensure appropriate respiratory therapy.
• Perform ventilator management and blood gas analysis.
• Document respiratory progress for ventilated patients.
• Assist in teaching other disciplines and decontaminate equipment.
