They practice under respiratory and ventilator management protocols with a high degree of autonomy, performing procedures such as intubations and inserting arterial lines, depending on the facility.

Responsibilities

Every Novant Health team member is responsible for delivering the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time.

• Act as a patient advocate, incorporating education into the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize duties based on patient needs and acuity levels, ensuring timely care interventions and medical orders.
• Administer and evaluate medication therapies, perform patient transfers, and transport patients.
• Evaluate patient needs and provide routine respiratory care (e.g., ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy), as well as higher-level care in critical and emergent situations.
• Demonstrate independence in respiratory care practices, adhering to state requirements and standards.
• Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue response, airway management, blood gas analysis interpretation, and protocol adherence for patient care.
