The role you’ll contribute:

The respiratory therapist provides routine, emergent, and critical cardiopulmonary care under the direction of a physician to neonatal (if applicable), pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan, local, state, and federal regulations, and standards of accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Supervises cardiopulmonary care delivery according to policies and procedures. Ensures effective assessment and reassessment of patients, recommending changes based on medical necessity and protocols.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatments. Prevents or resolves side effects. Adjusts therapies based on clinical data such as pulse oximetry, peak flow, x-ray, labs.
• Initiates and manages mechanical ventilation, determines ventilator settings, reevaluates every four hours, responds to alarms, and facilitates weaning.
• Draws and analyzes arterial blood gases, including Lactic Acid, and manages arterial lines. Adjusts respiratory management based on blood gas results.
• Responds to emergencies like Code STEMI, Rapid Response, and Code Blue; maintains airway and performs CPR.
• Supports cardiopulmonary diagnostics, including cardiac stress testing, holter monitors, ECGs, pulmonary function tests, and EEGs.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an approved respiratory care program or an associate degree required.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Florida RRT or CRT license.
