Accendra Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver critical home and hospital-based care with extensive patient interaction. The role focuses on supporting metro branches through on-site visits and flexible scheduling tied to discharge volume.

You will set up oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment, educate families, document care, and collaborate with physicians and case managers to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Formación

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active IL RT license.
• Open to various experience levels; DME experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects 10–50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Comfortable using mobile tech, navigation tools, and digital documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow-ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including oxygen, nebulization, PAP, and ventilation.
• Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and vital signs.
• Perform other duties as required.

Why This Respiratory Therapist Role Is Different

This role is ideal for a Respiratory Therapist who enjoys extensive patient interaction and variety in their day. With most time spent in the field supporting metro branches, the role offers flexibility tied to hospital discharge volume and meaningful in-home and hospital-based patient care.

Key Highlights

• Coverage Area: Hanover Park, IL and supports Waukegan and Bolingbrook metro branches.
• Work Arrangement: On-site; 75% road, 25% in-office.
• Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; flexibility to 9:00–5:30 PM or 10:00–6:30 PM.
• Reimbursements: Mileage reimbursed at $0.76 per mile.

Salary Range

• $36 - $40 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

On-Call Transparency

• One weekday on-call and one weekend per month.

What you’ll do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered and escalates concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs,
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating ondition.
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs.
• Performs other duties as required.

What we look for

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active IL RT license.
• Open to various experience levels; preference for experienced candidates. DME experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy.
• Hold a current CPR Certification.
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.
