The role involves evaluating prescriptions, administering inhaled therapies, operating ventilators and gas delivery systems, and monitoring patient responses to treatment to ensure optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates prescriptions and arterial blood gases to determine required therapy and duration.
• Delivers aerosol medications and positions patients to aid breathing and prevent airway obstruction.
• Sets up and operates ventilators and gas delivery systems per physician orders.
• Monitors treatment parameters (volume, gas concentration, humidity, temp) and administers meds accordingly.
• Performs pulmonary function tests to assist in diagnosis and monitors patient responses to therapy.
