Job summary

Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide life-support and cardiopulmonary care under physician supervision. The role includes evaluating prescriptions, administering aerosol therapies, operating ventilators, monitoring patient responses, and performing PFTs to assist diagnoses.

Required: AS in respiratory therapy, NJ RRT license within 12 months, BLS; 1+ year experience preferred, EPIC charting a plus. Opportunity at Atlantic Respiratory Institute.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in respiratory therapy required (or hired prior to program availability).
• Current NJ license as Respiratory Therapist; NBRC RRT credential required within 12 months.
• Active BLS; Advanced Life Support to obtain or have within 12 months of hire.
• 1+ year respiratory care experience; critical care experience preferred; EPIC charting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prescriptions, measure ABGs, assess patient condition, determine therapy type and duration.
• Deliver aerosol meds and treatments; position patients to aid breathing.
• Set up and operate ventilators and gas administration systems.
• Monitor treatment parameters: volume, gas concentration, humidity, temperature.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and assist breathing exercises.
• Conduct pulmonary function testing to support diagnosis.
• Maintain and chart patient data; ensure equipment safety and repairs as needed.
• Educate patients and colleagues on respiratory care procedures.
