Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Louisiana is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to patients from neonatal to geriatric. The RT-CRT sets up, monitors and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draws and reports ABGs and EKGs.

Requirements include an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC RRT credential, BLS (ACLS within 90 days), plus strong communication

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; bachelor's preferred.
• Current state license as Respiratory Therapist and NBRC RRT credential.
• BLS required; ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on patient age and criteria.
• Adapts communication and approach to patient population.
