Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Owasso, OK is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for varied shift PRN coverage. You will set up and operate respiratory equipment and support patient care across units.

The role requires an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care, at least 1 year of experience, and licensing (CRT, RRT) on hire, with BLS/ACLS/NRP within specified timelines. You will collaborate with nurses and physicians and participate in QA and education programs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Care.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Oklahoma CRT license on hire.
• RRT license on hire.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire.
• NRP within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
• Administer respiratory gases and medications; respond to emergencies.
• Advise on arterial blood gas results.
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
• May serve as a resource to nurses, physicians and staff regarding respiratory procedures.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Participate in in-service/education programs and QA activities.
• Work schedule includes alternate weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bailey Medical Center offers a full range of medical services, including general surgery, maternity, gynecology, bariatrics, orthopedics and emergency care. The 73-bed hospital is one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the region.
• The Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician are capable of setting up and operating various types of equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and or illness.
• The therapist provides administration of respiratory specific gases and medications, and modes of therapy for the respiratory compromised patient. Responds to emergencies throughout the hospital.
• Advises on arterial blood gas results.
• Assists in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• May assist in the ordering of department supplies.
• Takes and records verbal and telephone orders from physicians as necessary.
• Acts as a resource person to nurses, physicians, residents, interns, respiratory staff, students and other hospital staff in regard to initiation and operation of all respiratory procedures.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Takes an active part in attending departmental in-service/education programs.
• Participates in Quality Assurance programs and participates in department and/or BMC committees.
• Work schedule includes working alternate weekends and holidays.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Associated Degree in Respiratory Care.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Oklahoma CRT license (upon hire).
• RRT license for Registered Respiratory Therapist ONLY (upon hire).
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS (within 30 days of hire).
• NRP (within 60 days of hire).
