The position requires an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care, Oklahoma CRT license on hire, and BLS/ACLS/NRP as specified. Expect weekend/holiday coverage as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Associated Degree in Respiratory Care.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Oklahoma CRT license (upon hire).
• RRT license (upon hire).
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire.
• NRP within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
• Administer respiratory gases and medications and modes of therapy.
• Respond to emergencies throughout the hospital.
• Advise on arterial blood gas results.
• Assist in transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• May assist in ordering department supplies.
• Take verbal and telephone orders from physicians as necessary.
• Act as a resource to nurses, physicians, residents, interns, and staff in regard to respiratory procedures.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Attend departmental in-service/education programs.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs and committees.
• Work schedule includes alternate weekends and holidays.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Get to Know Your Team:

• Hillcrest Hospital Cushing is a 99-bed community-owned facility offering 24-hour emergency services, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging, withdrawal stabilization, wound care and urology.

• The Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician are capable of setting up and operating various types of equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and or illness.
• The therapist provides administration of respiratory specific gases and medications, and modes of therapy for the respiratory compromised patient.
• Responds to emergencies throughout the hospital.
• Advises on arterial blood gas results.
• Assists in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• May assist in the ordering of department supplies.
• Takes and records verbal and telephone orders from physicians as necessary.
• Acts as a resource person to nurses, physicians, residents, interns, respiratory staff, students and other hospital staff in regard to initiation and operation of all respiratory procedures.
• May assume a Charge role in the absence of the Respiratory Supervisor.
• Takes an active part in attending departmental in-service/education programs.
• Participates in Quality Assurance programs, and participates in department and/or HHC committees.
• Work schedule includes working alternate weekends and holidays.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Associated Degree in Respiratory Care
• A minimum of 1 year of experience
• Oklahoma CRT license (upon hire)
• RRT license for Registered Respiratory Therapist ONLY (upon hire)
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS (within 30 days of hire)
• NRP (within 60 days of hire)
