Job summary

A healthcare organization in Milwaukee is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to provide care for patients with respiratory issues. Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency resuscitation calls.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions.

Schedule: 0.9 FTE | 36 hours a week | Full‑time | Weekends (40/52 weekends) | Friday, Saturday, Sundays | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.
• Educate the patient and family about the patient’s health condition and provide information about community support groups and other resources.

Requirements

• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• One or more of the following:
• Registered Respiratory Therapist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist is preferred for current incumbents who have been grandfathered into their roles at St. Francis per the collective bargaining agreement in place.

Education

• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Additional Preferences

3 years adult critical care experience preferred. Arterial line and intubation competence preferred. Must be willing to train in placement of advanced lines (i.e., arterial, mid‑line / PICC) insertions needed.
