Job summary

A healthcare organization in Milwaukee is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide care for patients with respiratory issues. This role requires a BLS Provider certification and credentialing from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board. You will assess treatment plans, monitor patient conditions, and educate families on health resources. This full-time position offers a sign-on bonus and various benefits including paid time off and health insurance options.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Credentialed Respiratory Care Practitioner from Wisconsin Medical Examining Board required.
• Experience in respiratory care essential.
• Pediatric ALS preferred; neonatal resuscitation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and provide care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Implement and monitor care plans and equipment.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions.
• Record patient condition; monitor outcomes and medications.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and community resources.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment; manage inventory and sterilization.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
• Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment. Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment. Process equipment per established cleaning/sterilization procedures.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.

Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
