Job summary

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Commack, NY is seeking Respiratory Therapists to join our full-time evening/night shift team. We offer 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus for full-time positions.

As a licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT preferred), you will provide respiratory care, evaluate residents, and collaborate with physicians, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes across short-term and long-term care services.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Respiratory Therapist.
• RRT certification preferred by NBRC.
• 1–3 years of experience with mechanical ventilation and weaning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make decisions within the scope of respiratory care and communicate with the physician as indicated.
• Provide respiratory care to all residents and follow clinical procedures.
• Knowledge of dementia population and related behaviors.
• Recognize pain in residents and take appropriate actions.
• Provide respiratory modalities per physician orders for residents with acute or chronic respiratory needs.

• Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Respiratory Therapist and Registered (RRT) Preferred by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Candidate with 1-3 years of previous experience with mechanical ventilation and weaning procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Candidates must be able to make decisions within the scope of respiratory care and make appropriate recommendations as indicated to the responsible physician.
• Responsible for the respiratory care rendered to all residents. Follows policy and clinical procedures in respiratory care as ordered by the responsible physician.
• Knowledge of dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.
• Able to recognize when a resident is in pain and take appropriate actions.
• Provides short and/or long-term support of patients having increased chronic or acute respiratory difficulty by providing respiratory modalities, as per physician orders.
