Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Long Island, NY, a 460-bed facility, seeks Respiratory Therapists to join full-time evening/night shifts. The center offers short-term rehab, long-term skilled nursing, home care, adult day health, and memory care on its Commack campus.

• Provide respiratory modalities to patients with increased chronic or acute respiratory difficulty as ordered by physicians.

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a renowned healthcare provider located on Long Island, NY which offers a full continuum of services. The Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a 460 bed facility providing services for short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, home care programs, an adult day health program, ventilator dependent care, palliative and hospice care, a new Memory Care Unit and on-site dialysis. The Gurwin Family of Services also includes the 201-apartment Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner assisted living community and the Fountaingate Gardens independent living community on the Commack campus.

Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking Respiratory Therapists to work full-time on evening/night shift. 12 hour shifts available! Candidate must be available to work rotating weekends.

Requirements:

• Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Respiratory Therapist and Registered (RRT) Preferred by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

• Candidate with 1-3 years of previous experience with mechanical ventilation and weaning procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Candidates must be able to make decisions within the scope of respiratory care and make appropriate recommendations as indicated to the responsible physician.

• Responsible for the respiratory care rendered to all residents. Follows policy and clinical procedures in respiratory care as ordered by the responsible physician.

• Knowledge of dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.

• Able to recognize when a resident is in pain and take appropriate actions.

• Provides short and/or long-term support of patients having increased chronic or acute respiratory difficulty by providing respiratory modalities, as per physician orders.
