Job summary

HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Student Extern to join our team in Jacksonville. The extern will provide patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist and assist staff across routine modalities of respiratory care, while performing clerical duties as needed.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with at least one completed semester, and certifications or timelines for ACLS, BLS, and PALS within specified

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Currently enrolled in accredited Respiratory Therapy program with at least one completed semester.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a licensed RT.
• Assist staff and care for patients according to training.
• Perform clerical tasks as assigned.
• Support quality care and customer service initiatives.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapy (RT) Extern provides patient treatment within the various common

modalities of respiratory care under the supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist. Assists staff

by caring for patients, in accordance with the RT Extern's skills/training and the needs of the

department, performing clerical tasks and duties as assigned. Supports and promotes quality care

and customer service initiatives by demonstrating competency, knowledge/skills and adhering to

HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, related policies and procedures, Code of Conduct and

Mission/Value Statement.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school obtaining degree in RespiratoryTherapy and completed one semester.
