Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The ideal candidate will be a certified respiratory therapist who provides extraordinary patient care by applying strong knowledge in the field and following physician-ordered protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate degree - AMA accredited program in respiratory care with an AAS or higher.
• CRT NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist or NBRC Registered Pulmonary Function Technician required.
• BLS required.
• ACLS Certification required within one year of hire.
• NRP Certification required within one year of hire.
• PALS Certification required within one year of hire.
• Must be registry eligible; some acute experience preferred.
• Preferred education: Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field.
• Preferred certification: RRT from NBRC.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual & cultural dimensions and educational needs of the patient and documents.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and services, including oxygen, humidity, ventilators, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, EKG, blood gas analysis.
• Applies therapeutic communication and problem-solving in patient care.
• Responds to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintains airway during emergencies.
• Facilitates workflow efficiency and reviews EMRs and physician orders.
