Job summary

MedStar Health’s MedStar Washington Hospital Center seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner. You will provide specialized respiratory therapy, monitor equipment, and assess patients from neonatal to geriatric ages, within a top healthcare system recognized as a Healthiest Maryland Business.

Responsibilities include conducting therapy, ventilator management, Blood Gas analysis, EKG monitoring, and collaboration with physicians.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in respiratory care required.
• CRT certification required (NBRC).
• BLS required.
• ACLS certification required within one year of hire.
• NRP certification required within one year of hire.
• PALS certification required within one year of hire.
• Must be registry eligible; acute experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field preferred.
• RRT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs and documents accordingly.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and manages all equipment and services—oxygen, humidity, ventilators, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, Blood Gas.
• Applies therapeutic communication, problem solving and crisis intervention in patient care.
• Responds to emergencies, maintains airway, provides ventilation via mask or tubes, performs CPR.
• Monitors workflow, reviews EMR and physician orders, and suggests process improvements.
