Qualifications

• CPFT or RPFT certification.
• Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Active or Pending Illinois Respiratory Care License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Competent in all adult med surg units in respiratory therapies and modalities.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy; adjusts frequencies as appropriate.
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Educates patients and families on respiratory disease management and resources.
• Precepts students and serves as a positive role model for teamwork.
• Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborates with the healthcare team.
• Evaluates and updates respiratory care policies based on outcomes and research.
