Job summary

San Joaquin General Hospital in California is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I to join its Respiratory Care Department on a full-time basis. Two vacancies are being filled and an eligible list established for future openings.

Responsibilities include operating respiratory therapy equipment, performing blood gas analyses, conducting pulmonary function tests, and supporting the cardiac arrest team as needed. A California RCP license is required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the State of California Respiratory Care Board.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of respiratory therapy; gases used and their effects on the body; care and operation of respiratory equipment.
• Ability to administer a variety of skilled respiratory therapy treatments and to train others as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory equipment as prescribed by a physician.
• Operate blood gas analysis equipment and report results.
• Make rounds to check and adjust respiratory therapy equipment; clean, maintain, repair as needed.
• Set up and maintain long term ventilators.
• Perform screening pulmonary function tests.
• Assist cardiac arrest team by providing oxygen, CPR or artificial respiration and securing equipment.
• Read charts and verify orders against physician's prescriptions.
• May train others as assigned.
