Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner I - PFT in Chicago to deliver respiratory therapies to acutely ill patients. The role requires CPFT or RPFT, CRT or RRT, an accredited therapy program graduate, and active or pending Illinois license, plus BLS.

You will educate patients and families, monitor responses, and collaborate with the health care team across med/surg, ED, and ICU settings. Precept students and uphold NM professionalism.

Qualifications

• CPFT or RPFT certification.
• Graduate of Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• CRT or RRT certification.
• Active or Pending Illinois Respiratory Care License.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Competent in all adult med surg units in all respiratory therapies and modalities.
• Understands and implements adult respiratory protocols, policies, and guidelines.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy; adjusts frequencies as appropriate.
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients/families about respiratory disease management and resources.
• Competent in all adult care areas including med/surg, ED, and critical care units.
• Responds to clinical emergency management situations.
• Participates in multidisciplinary rounds; collaborates with the team.
• Evaluates policies/procedures based on outcomes and evidence.
• Precept students.
• Role model promoting teamwork and NM Code of Professionalism.
