Responsibilities

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will report to work on time and be prepared to work in a professional manner, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Provide quality care as ordered by the patient's physicians. Responsible for initiating respiratory protocols and evaluating protocol steps across all modalities of therapy. Serve as a member of the patient care team to assess, develop care plans, evaluate the appropriateness of respiratory care modalities, and assist with discharge planning as needed. Provide patient and family education related to medications and therapy modalities appropriate to assessed learning skills. Participate in monitoring the quality of care. Organize workflow to ensure smooth shift transitions. Assist in daily operations of respiratory care services by maintaining accurate documentation, entering charges for billing, monitoring and ordering supplies and medications, and performing other duties as assigned. Maintain current knowledge through hospital and department communication tools. Identify problems and suggest solutions. Demonstrate critical thinking skills. Participate in or provide in-service training.

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate Degree
• One of the following: CRT or RRT (must be obtained within 12 months of hire)
• Respiratory Therapist (KY)

Desired:

• One year of experience in respiratory care within a critical care setting
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (National) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (National)
