Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Assistant to provide emergency, ICU, and therapeutic respiratory care under the direct supervision of a respiratory therapist. You will monitor equipment, perform diagnostic tests, and educate patients across pediatric to geriatric populations.

Responsibilities include developing therapy plans with physicians, administering CPAP/BIPAP, chest physiotherapy, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CAAHEP (CAAHEP-accredited).
• Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist.
• NBRC registration exam requirements completed.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
• Comprehensive knowledge for pediatric to geriatric therapy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification if Cardiac Rehab/Respiratory Care/Sleep Center.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and assesses patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Develops patient treatment plans with physicians; creates therapy programs.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as measuring lung capacity.
• Administers therapies including CPAP/BIPAP and chest physiotherapy.
• Monitors and records progress of treatment.
• Educates patients on how to use treatments.
• Operates and maintains respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Pursues NBRC/state licensure exams within a defined timeline.
• Participates in QA/QI programs and helps improve processes.
• Maintains documentation in paper and electronic formats.
• Performs other related duties as required.
