Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional educator to support instructional programs and assist in supervising and instructing special needs students across classrooms and related settings. The role involves implementing IEP plans, monitoring behavior, and coordinating with teachers.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, providing first aid, administering tests and assignments, and ensuring a safe learning environment with data collection and records support.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED and Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro (before 2007)
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college/university
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide support to instructional program in assigned classroom, assist in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students
• Adapt activities, reinforce IEP goals/objectives under supervision
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as directed
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work
• Assist medically fragile students with daily needs
• Confer with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives
• Monitor students to maintain safe learning environment
• Record keeping and support functions for teacher
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to reinforce objectives
• Respond to emergencies following training and procedures
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunch, restrooms, bus) and ensure appropriate conduct
• Perform other duties as assigned
