Job summary

MW Talent partners with a leading chemical manufacturer to recruit a Product Development Chemist, Resin Formulation, for its R&D team in Moncure, NC. The role focuses on inventing resin-based products and directing formulation development from concept to production.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in organic synthesis and formaldehyde-based resin systems, plus a track record of leading technical projects and collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry is required.
• Hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry and organic synthesis is essential.
• Experience in creating or modifying chemical formulations, not just analytics.
• Strong lab skills, experimental design, analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills; working with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage projects and work independently.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous chemical materials.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scientific/statistical analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, formulate, and optimize new resin-based products.
• Develop formulations from concept through validation and production.
• Conduct organic synthesis, wet chemistry, formulation, and performance testing.
• Work with formaldehyde-based resins and alternatives, including formaldehyde-free and NAF systems.
• Evaluate materials and approaches to improve resin systems.
• Interpret data to guide product development decisions.
• Troubleshoot formulation, scale-up, and manufacturing challenges.
• Support transition of lab formulations to scalable processes.
• Own technical projects, priorities, timelines, and results.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Applications, Sales, and Marketing teams.
• Maintain detailed technical records and reports.
• Follow safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute new ideas for future products.
