The role emphasizes mentorship, documentation, and adherence to policy while fostering a supportive environment for residents and staff. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required along with relevant childcare supervision credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience with college credits and work history.
• Two years of full-time work experience in a correctional childcare institution or four years with two years of college.
• Alternative: one year of college with five years of related experience in a correctional setting.
• High school graduate with six years of related full-time experience as an option.
• Must not have a felony conviction and hold a valid vehicle license.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety, security, and welfare oversight for residents on each shift.
• Supervise Youth Specialists and ensure duties align with policies and service plans.
• Prepare weekly program schedules with a structured 24-hour plan of activities.
• Create staff work schedules to maintain coverage and operations.
• Coordinate communication between youths, families, and professionals.
• Complete admission and intake duties and document orientation to facility expectations.
• Use county and department software to maintain records and reports.
