Job summary

MCHS Family of Services in Michigan is seeking a Residential Shift Supervisor to oversee the Residential Village, handle crises, and supervise youth staff on the assigned shift. You will coach Youth Specialists, ensure safety across cottages, and coordinate staff coverage for current and upcoming shifts.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field and at least two years in a child-care setting with SED youth; supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human behavioral science such as Social Work or related discipline.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in a child caring institution working with serious emotional disorder (SED) at-risk youth between the ages of 7-17; experience as a supervisor in a residential program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the Residential Village to ensure a safe environment for the residents; respond to and handle all crisis situations or critical incidents on assigned shift.
• Supervise assigned staff and volunteers to ensure that they are functioning within the requirements of their job duties; provide guidance, training, assistance, and support to staff when needed, including planning staffing and adjusting workloads as necessary; addressing and resolving complaints to create a climate of teamwork and motivation; perform the duties of a Youth Specialist as needed.
• Work with the other supervisors and Director of Residential Services regarding cottage or program licensing/certification rules, relicensing, complaints, and rulings to ensure ongoing compliance with all agency, licensing, contractual, and legal obligations and requirements.
• Assist the group treatment team as necessary to help ensure each child successfully completes the goals set forth in their treatment plan.
• Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHSs mission and vision.
• Operate within the guidelines of the Employee Handbook, programs Operations Manual, and DHHS Policies and Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
