Job summary

The City of Gainesville, Georgia is seeking a Residential Helper to join our solid waste team. The role supports the Driver on your designated routes, collecting residential trash, recycling and curbside debris while riding along and assisting with prompt, courteous service.

Responsibilities include operating packing mechanisms, lifting bags up to 50 pounds, and maintaining safe, courteous interactions with residents.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Georgia driver's license preferred with a satisfactory MVR
Safety-sensitive role requires drug testing and random screenings.

Responsibilities

Work on a team collecting residents' solid waste, recycling and curbside trash on designated routes.
Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver and ensure timely service for customers.
Operate the packing mechanism and controls to load waste into trucks.
Assist in lifting and moving bags of trash and emptying bins into the packer truck.
Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and others daily.
Monitor waste for unacceptable items and adhere to safety standards.
Follow safety policies and perform other duties as assigned.
May operate a pickup truck on routes and be recalled for emergencies or overtime.
Position requires working in various weather conditions.
