Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Villa Maria School, is seeking a Teaching Assistant-Residential to support students with significant emotional and learning challenges in both classroom and residential settings. The role involves supervising, assisting in instruction, transporting students as needed, and collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM, with 12-month program operations.

Qualifications

• HS/GED with 1 year of experience working with special populations.
• TCI, CARE, CPR/First Aid certifications required within specified timelines.
• Ability to sustain a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Supports implementation of classroom lesson plans and IEP-directed activities under teacher direction.
• Maintains active supervision of students across classroom, residential, campus, vehicle, and community settings.
• Provides individualized and small-group support for learning, behavior, emotions, and daily living needs.
• Applies trauma-informed practices to prevent, de-escalate, and respond to crises.
• Models respectfully, developmentally appropriate interactions to build positive relationships.
• Documents observations, incidents, student progress, and safety concerns accurately.
