Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Villa Maria School is seeking a Teaching Assistant-Residential to assist in the care and education of emotionally challenged children within a residential treatment setting and school system.

Responsibilities include supporting classroom instruction, supervising students across settings, and providing individual and small-group support under teacher direction.

Qualifications

• High School/GED plus 1 year experience with special populations.

Responsibilities

• Supports classroom lesson plans and IEP-directed activities under teacher direction.
• Maintains active supervision across classroom, residential, campus, vehicle, and community settings.
• Provides individualized and small-group support for learning, behavior, and daily living needs.
• Applies trauma-informed practices to prevent or respond to crises.
• Models respectful interactions to build a therapeutic environment.
• Documents observations and safety concerns for coordinated care.
• Collaborates with teachers, therapists, and families to align support strategies.
• Escorts and transports students between locations.
• Provides classroom coverage when needed.
• Follows infection control and safety protocols.
