What You’ll Be Doing:

• Respond to callers who access the SafeHouse Denver 24‑hour crisis line. Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and de‑escalation.
• Provide information and education on domestic abuse, trauma response, and coping skills.
• Support callers in assessing immediate needs, identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and developing a plan of action.
• Provide safety planning by assessing danger/risks and implementing the safety plan.
• Screen callers for shelter and provide initial intake of new residents.
• Orient new residents to the shelter building and program.
• Assess immediate needs, develop action plans, and provide safety planning for residents.
• Offer short‑term individual advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention during intake.
• Support residents in developing short‑term goals to address immediate concerns. Provide information and education about domestic abuse, trauma response, and coping skills.
• Assist residents in identifying options and achieving short‑term goals.
• Communicate with Primary Advocates to ensure quality services to residents.
• Maintain a safe and secure shelter space and a respectful community living environment. Provide emotional support, de‑escalation, conflict management, problem solving, and crisis intervention.
• Provide house meetings as needed to resolve ongoing issues or conflicts.
• Support participation in the shelter program and clarify expectations for residents.
• Supply personal items, shelter supplies, and food to meet day‑to‑day needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely record‑keeping, charting, and documentation.
• Demonstrate initiative and vision for service quality, improvement, prevention, and problem resolution.
• Work diligently to achieve individual, team, and agency goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with all staff to assure coordinated services within the Shelter and across all agency programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in social work or related field (preferred); Bachelor’s degree or at least one year of experience (preferred). Two years of experience in crisis intervention is required.
• Strong skills in crisis intervention and trauma‑informed work.
• Strong technical aptitude and advanced proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to work in a diverse environment and passion for the SafeHouse Denver mission.
• Solid understanding of how people and organizations change and the ability to be adaptable.

Bilingual Strongly Preferred
