Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a Residential Supervisor to join a mission-driven team in Sioux Falls. This full-time role in the Summit Oaks program focuses on directing and supporting residential staff, ensuring safety and quality care for children and youth.

Ideal candidates have a behavioral or social science background or equivalent experience, are 21+, and can pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a behavioral or social science field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Willingness to submit to background checks for criminal history involving children.
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one with approved status.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, evaluation, and support to residential staff.
• Ensure physical intervention for residents and staff protection if necessary.
• Transport residents as needed and maintain health and safety standards.
• Attend in-service trainings, staff meetings, and supervisor meetings.
• Cover on-call duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social science

Two years of postsecondary education + one year experience with children

A Day in the life of a Residential Supervisor at Summit Oaks:

• Provide direction, evaluation, and support to residential staff.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field preferred; or two years of postsecondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits) and one year of experience working with children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Willingness to submit to record checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, distributing drugs or sex crimes.
• Requires a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.
