Job description

Fitzgerald Custom Homes
Residential Site Superintendent

Location: Cape Cod, MA. On-site daily, primarily Dennis to Provincetown.

See It Early. Build It Right.

For more than 25 years, Fitzgerald Custom Homes has built and remodeled high-end homes across Cape Cod with one clear standard: elevate the experience. We pair excellent craftsmanship with disciplined project management, clear communication, and trusted trade relationships. Our portfolio includes custom homes, whole-home renovations, additions, and exterior projects, typically valued from $500,000 to $2 million.

The Site Superintendent is the daily, boots-on-the-ground leader for one to two active residential projects. You will keep the site safe, clean, organized, and moving; coordinate subcontractors and deliveries; verify quality against plans and specifications; and report accurately to the Project Manager in JobTread. Strong carpentry judgment is essential because the best supervisor identifies a problem while it is still small and inexpensive to correct.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily site operations across one to two active projects, opening the site, setting priorities, and maintaining the planned sequence.
  • Identify constructability, material, scheduling, and quality issues early and bring practical solutions to the Project Manager before work is disrupted.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and deliveries; confirm that each trade has what it needs and leaves work inspection-ready.
  • Perform field quality control against plans, specifications, details, and approved standards, catching deficiencies before they reach the punch-list stage.
  • Maintain OSHA and company safety standards, secure the site, post required signage, and keep occupied homes and surrounding properties clean and presentable.
  • Update JobTread every day with accurate progress notes, photos, milestones, subcontractor performance, material status, and schedule information.
  • Communicate firmly and respectfully with subcontractors while remaining professional, helpful, and approachable with homeowners.
  • Coordinate material staging and protection, maintain company vehicles and equipment, and complete assigned rough or finish carpentry as needed.
  • Run smaller fill-in projects from written scope through completion, protecting schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of residential construction experience, including at least two years in a lead or supervisory role on custom homes or high-end remodeling projects.
  • Excellent rough and finish carpentry knowledge with the ability to recognize immediately when framing, trim, millwork, or finish work is not correct.
  • Proven foresight and practical problem-solving; you identify issues before they become delays, rework, or difficult client conversations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to hold subcontractors accountable without damaging relationships and represent FCH professionally with homeowners.
  • Comfortable using a computer, phone, and tablet for same-day logs, photos, scheduling, and cloud-based project reporting; JobTread experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, details, and shop drawings and coordinate work accordingly.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred. Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License is preferred, or willingness and eligibility to obtain it within 12 months.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Employment is contingent on completion of a job-related background check, where permitted by applicable law
  • Must reside on Cape Cod or be able to relocate before the start date and report reliably to project sites throughout the assigned area.
  • Alignment with FCH values: Rise to It, Climb, Don't Camp, Elevate the Experience, and Look Beyond the Horizon.
Pay and Benefits
  • Full-time, year-round, W-2 position; standard hours are 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Pay range: $35-$48 per hour, based on experience, carpentry depth, licensing, and high-end residential expertise. Final range requires client approval.
  • FCH contributes 50% of the employee health insurance premium after 90 days of employment.
  • SIMPLE IRA with an annual company match.
  • 10 days/80 hours of PTO after 90 days of employment, with additional time at tenure milestones, plus six paid holidays.
  • Annual performance-based salary review and company-supported continuing education with prior approval.
