Job summary

Mecklenburg County's LUESA unit seeks an Inspection Coordinator to support Residential Permitting and Inspections. You will interact with customers in person, by phone, email, or text, and perform advanced administrative tasks to support office and field inspectors in the permitting process.

The role requires coordinating inspection schedules, handling changes, and communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations and timely permits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of administrative experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • May require valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspection scheduling as needed.
  • Support inspection itinerary changes.
  • Facilitate sending utility codes and emergency connection requests as needed.
  • Handle customer calls from contractors, homeowners, inspectors and supervisors via a call center line and direct phone line.
  • Monitor shared email boxes within team.
  • Keep team inspector checklists updated and distribute to other Code Enforcement Teams.
  • Provide backup for Commercial Inspection Coordinator as needed.
  • Organize Inspection team holiday vacation requests sheets and calendar needs.
  • Handle customer complaints and triage needs for satisfaction.
  • Prepare written correspondence as needed.
  • Participate in staff or customer meetings and record meeting minutes.
  • Other tasks as directed by manager or department needs.

Salary Range: $25.53 - $27/hourly

WHO WILL I BE WORKING WITH ?

The Inspection Coordinator will be working the Residential Permitting and Inspections Team in support of permitting and inspections functions within Mecklenburg County. Interactions will be in person, via phone, e-mail or text.

Position Summary

Perform progressively responsible administrative, and technical work. This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for advanced administrative functions of variety and specialization in support of the office and field inspectors in the permitting process.

Essential Functions
Daily
  • Assist with inspection scheduling as needed
  • Support inspection itinerary changes
  • Facilitate sending utility codes and emergency connection requests as needed
  • Handle customer calls from contractors, homeowners, inspectors and supervisors via a call center line and direct phone line
  • Monitor shared email boxes within team
Perpetual
  • Keep team inspector checklists updated and distribute to other Code Enforcement Teams
  • Provide back up for Commercial Inspection Coordinator as needed
  • Facilitate the organization of Inspection team’s holiday vacation requests sheets and other calendaring needs
  • Handle customer complaints and advise customers or triage their needs to ensure good customer satisfaction
  • Prepare written correspondence as needed
  • Participate in staff or customer meetings as requested, composing and distributing meeting minutes that record information.
  • Other tasks as directed by manager or department needs.
Experience
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of four years of administrative experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes

Licenses and Certifications

May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License

May require County Driving Privileges
