Job summary

University of California, Santa Cruz is seeking a Residential Community Service Supervisor to oversee up to 1000 residents and summer guests, coordinating nightly safety operations and liaison with campus police.

The role reports to the Associate Director, supervising staff, conducting community walks, and managing logs, training, and policy updates as part of a robust security and safety program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or strong knowledge in security, safety, and emergency response.
• Supervisory experience with communication, goal setting, motivation, and disciplinary skills.
• Experience with diverse communities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Customer service experience.
• Basic computer skills: email, document preparation, database and spreadsheet use.
• Judgment and discretion for confidential matters.
• De-escalation and diplomacy skills.
• Independent and team work ability.
• Goal setting and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Staff supervision including training, scheduling, and evaluation of staff.
• Conduct security walks to ensure safety and respond to incidents.
• Maintain postings, email communications, and incident reports.
• Attend RCSP management and residential life meetings.
• Maintain equipment inventories and inspection routines.
• Create and deliver training based on needs or policy changes.
• Provide feedback for policy updates.
