The Mayo Clinic John E Herman Home and Treatment Center provides residential treatment for adults with serious persistent mental illness. The Psychiatric Technician participates in both direct and indirect patient care, supporting therapy and milieu-based activities to promote recovery and safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a mental health or behavioral assistant working with adults and or children -OR- completion of 12 college credits preferred.
• Basic skills in cleaning, cooking, and meal preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in stressful and ambiguous situations.
• Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft office suite.

Responsabilités

• Assist residents in social, clinical, nutritional, and observational activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Promote involvement in the treatment program under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Lead social activities, games and crafts that support milieu therapy concepts.
• Identify escalation of concerning behaviors and participate in safety observations.
