Job summary

Madison County Government seeks a Property Appraiser to assess residential properties within the county. The role uses CAMA to prepare written appraisals for the Board of Review and Chief County Assessment, entering data, and verifying accuracy.

You will perform on-site inspections, measure and record property characteristics, and use maps to locate targets. You will research data, derive values, and respond to taxpayer inquiries while maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certified Illinois Assessing Official designation preferred.
• Two years related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal System (CAMA) to prepare and present written appraisals for the Board of Review and Chief County Assessment.
• Enters data into the CAMA and verifies accuracy.
• Uses maps to locate properties, conducts on-site inspections, measures dimensions, and records relevant characteristics.
• Researches data for target properties, including prior sales, replacement value, incomes, and prior assessments.
• Derives assessed values based on collected information and maintains files of assessments.
• Assists taxpayers with inquiries or directs them to the proper source for questions about assessments.
• Performs additional duties within the scope of duties described.
