Job summary

Interra Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to initiate residential mortgage processes for members and manage the end-to-end loan experience. You will interact with branch staff and internal referrals to originate first and second mortgages, ensuring accurate documentation and timely disclosures.

The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience, FHA/VA/Fannie Mae familiarity, and an active NMLS license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• NMLS and State Licensing required and must be maintained during employment.
• Experience with FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, construction and reverse mortgage loans is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate residential mortgage process for potential members and verify applications.
• Originate first and second mortgages via internal referrals, branch walk-ins, and staff referrals.
• Maintain relationships and promote Interra Credit Union products and services.
• Meet with potential and current members to understand lending needs and explain mortgage options.
• Prepare lending packages based on member specifications and ensure accuracy of documents.
• Review loan applications, gather credit histories, assess repayment capacity, and provide disclosures.
• Submit loans to processing and underwriting with required signatures per regulatory timelines.
• Identify cross-sell opportunities and educate members on CU products.
• Maintain post-closing relationships and respond to member inquiries promptly.
• Stay informed on real estate market trends, rates, and regulatory changes.
