Job summary

Southern Bank And Trust in Mount Olive, VA is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to solicit and originate first lien residential mortgages. You will interface with customers, take applications, and negotiate loan terms, while developing relationships with realtors, builders, CPAs, attorneys and other professionals.

The role reports to the Mortgage Sales Manager and offers a base salary plus commission eligibility.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of mortgage lending regulations (RESPA, SAFE Act, BSA, Reg B, Reg Z, HOEPA).
• Ability to build a residential mortgage loan pipeline.
• Experience guiding borrowers through loan processes from inquiry to closing.
• Experience originating mortgage loans and documenting files for approval.

Responsibilities

• Solicit residential first lien mortgages through realtors, builders, developers and professionals.
• Maintain branches relationship to keep mortgages top-of-mind for referrals.
• Interview applicants to gather needs and financial information.
• Analyze financial, economic, and credit data to inform decisions.
• Negotiate loan terms with applicants.
• Monitor local real estate trends and mortgage regulations.
• Call on customers to develop new or retain existing business.
