Job summary

Sherman Associates is hiring a Maintenance Technician I for Mount Washington Senior Apartments in Independence, MO. The role supports a 45-unit affordable housing property, performing diversified maintenance to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the portfolio with emphasis on safety and preventative measures.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm with on-call evening/weekend rotations. Requires 1–3 years of maintenance experience, high school diploma or GED, and own tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and maintenance experience.
• 1–3 years in maintenance or related carpentry/construction.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and own hand tools.
• Ability to communicate with tenants and management.
• Willingness to respond to on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and landscaping.
• Respond to work orders and resident requests within 24 hours.
• Prepare vacated units within 24 hours with cleaning and repairs.
• Conduct ongoing preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
• Operate hand and power tools and inspect building systems.
• Maintain grounds and common areas in presentable condition.
• Coordinate with management on inspections and vendor bids.
• Assist with budgeting and inventory of maintenance supplies.
