Job summary

The Michaels Organization is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform basic electrical repairs, light plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep in resident units and common areas.

You will respond to work orders, complete make-ready tasks on vacant apartments, and assist the Maintenance or Community Manager with inspections. A High School Diploma with related trade skills and a valid driver’s license are required; a safety-conscious, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum maintenance work experience or related field.
• High School Diploma with training in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, refurbishing and cleaning.
• Trade School or Military training a plus.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc.
• Perform carpentry work such as fitting doors, freeing windows, replacing and building shelves, sanding and refinishing floors, painting.
• Replace broken glass, tile, carpet, screens, fixtures, appliances, draperies, locks.
• Assist in custodial and grounds work in common areas.
• Respond to work orders and resident concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist in move-in/move-out inspections and make-ready of vacant apartments.
• Keep records regarding preventive maintenance, inventories, and purchase orders.
• Report maintenance or resident concerns to manager promptly.
• Inspect units/buildings and perform repairs; ensure lighting and safety.
• Attend training seminars and operate within OSHA standards and safety policies.
• Ensure professional interactions with residents, contractors and management.
• May track stock control and utilization of maintenance materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
