Job summary

The Village School in Houston, TX, is seeking a Residential Assistant to manage student life in the Residential Program. You will provide structure, guidance, discipline, and understanding to a diverse student body in a private day and boarding setting.

Responsibilities include supervising routines, meals, study time, and activities, with occasional overnight shifts and weekend coverage. Candidates should have experience with youth and a willingness to accompany students on trips during breaks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (or working toward) degree preferred
• Experience working with youth groups, teaching, summer camps, or residential assistant roles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Shift Supervisor at shift start/end and submit reports
• Supervise daily routines, meals, study time, activities, and curfew
• Maintain attendance and activity logs using Boardingware
• Conduct patrols and ensure a safe environment
• Address behavioral concerns with appropriate consequences and document incidents
• Prepare timely reports on behavior and medical updates
• Support study sessions and academic progress with faculty
• Transport students as needed per school policies
• Attend meetings and participate in Residential Life programs
• Supervise activities and trips including evenings/weekends/school breaks
