Job summary

The Jewish Board in Manhattan is seeking a Cook for Kaplan House to plan, prepare, and serve three nutritious meals daily in a residential setting. You will follow nutritional guidelines, food-safety standards, and Kosher requirements while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen and accurate records.

You will manage inventory, receive deliveries, coordinate with staff and youth, and support a respectful, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must hold a Food Handler license.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow recipes and meal plans and dietary instructions.
  • English proficiency required; additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and serve three nutritious meals daily in a residential setting.
  • Follow USDA guidelines, sanitation, and Kosher requirements.
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized kitchen; manage inventory and supplies.
  • Complete daily meal counts and electronic documentation.
  • Receive and store deliveries; label and rotate stock; monitor expiration dates.
  • Interact professionally with youth and staff and support a respectful environment.
