Job summary

Patrick A. Finn Ltd. in Palatine, IL seeks a Residential Designer/Interior Designer to lead clients through the design and pre-construction process for remodeling projects. You will work closely with production teams to ensure plans are accurate, documented, and ready for build.

The role requires 5+ years of residential design experience, CAD/design software proficiency, and strong collaboration across teams. Onsite, full-time opportunity with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of residential design experience in remodeling, custom homes, or design-build construction.
• Experience preparing residential construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing residential construction estimates or supporting the estimating process.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building systems.
• Experience coordinating cabinetry, finish selections, and product specifications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet with homeowners to understand goals, lifestyle, budget, and vision for remodeling projects.
• Develop creative, practical design solutions for kitchens, baths, additions, and whole-home remodels.
• Prepare construction drawings, design documents, and bid packages for estimating, trade partners, and permitting.
• Guide cabinetry, fixtures, finishes, and materials selections to align with project vision and budget.
• Maintain accurate project information and construction documentation in the project management software.
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, vendors, and trade partners throughout design and pre-construction.
