Job summary

Patrick A. Finn Ltd. is looking for a skilled Carpenter for residential remodeling projects in the Northwest Chicago area. You will perform rough and finish carpentry, read blueprints, install cabinetry and trim, doors, windows, drywall, and finish materials, and mentor teammates.

We value craftsmanship, problem-solving, teamwork, and safety. This is a full-time, onsite role with competitive pay and benefits; commute to Palatine, IL is expected.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of residential remodeling or carpentry experience.
• Strong rough and finish carpentry skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs.
• Knowledge of residential building practices and codes.
• Experience installing cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, drywall, framing, finish materials.

We're looking for a skilled Carpenter who takes pride in producing exceptional work, enjoys solving challenges, and values being part of a collaborative team. Whether you're installing fine finish trim, framing an addition, or mentoring a less experienced teammate, you'll play an important role in creating homes our clients love.

What You'll Do

As a Carpenter, you'll help bring residential remodeling projects to life while maintaining the high standards Patrick A. Finn is known for.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform rough and finish carpentry on residential remodeling projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Install framing, cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, drywall, siding, insulation, flooring, and finish materials.
• Identify construction challenges and communicate practical solutions before they impact project progress.
• Work closely with Project Managers, designers, trade partners, and fellow carpenters to ensure projects stay on schedule.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
• Protect homeowners' property while delivering an exceptional remodeling experience.
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards and applicable building codes.
• Support and guide less experienced carpenters while contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Continuously improve your craftsmanship while learning new techniques, products, and construction methods.

What We're Looking For

• 4-5 years of residential remodeling or carpentry experience.
• Strong rough and finish carpentry skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Working knowledge of residential building practices and building codes.
• Experience installing cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, drywall, framing, and finish materials.
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

• $30-$35/hour, with up to $40/hour for highly experienced candidates with leadership experience
