Job summary

Star City Heating and Cooling is seeking a seasoned Residential HVAC Technician to join our team. You will troubleshoot and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems, perform preventive maintenance, and communicate options and costs clearly to customers.

We offer a competitive wage of $27-$30 per hour plus incentives, 401(k) with company match, medical/dental/vision, disability and life insurance, paid time off, holidays, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in residential HVAC services.
• Valid driver’s license and good communications skills.
• Experience in Residential, Commercial, Geothermal HVAC fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent equipment failure by cleaning air handling systems and reheat coils, monitoring and calibrating air handling systems and replacing filters, motors, fans, belts, etc.
• Locate and diagnose problems, assess the extent of repairs and describe options and associated costs to the customer.
• Assists with repairs of complete systems including repairing, calibrating, or replacing controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, piping, and other components.
• Completes all required documentation on services and explains guarantees/warranties to customers.
• Installs, repairs, replaces or cleans refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, etc., as appropriate.
• Ensures all HVAC repairs and installations meet safety standards/regulatory codes.

Education

High school diploma or GED

EPA Certificate (Preferred)

• On-target earnings (OTE) from $75,000 to $150,000 annually!

What You'll Do

• Troubleshoot and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent equipment failure by cleaning air handling systems and reheat coils, monitoring and calibrating air handling systems and replacing filters, motors, fans, belts, etc. on systems.
• Locate and diagnose problems, assess the extent of repairs and describe options and associated costs to the customer. Provides a description of diagnosed problems to customer in terms that can be understood with options, as possible.
• Assists with repairs of complete systems to include repairing, calibrating, or replacing controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, piping, and other functional components of the system.
• Completes all required documentation on services, explains guarantees/warranties and records.
• Installs, repairs, replaces or cleans refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, smoke detectors, humidifiers and grills, as appropriate.
• Ensures that all HVAC repairs and installations are accurate, serviceable and that materials used meets the requirements and safety standards/regulatory codes.

What You Bring

• Preferred 2+ years of experience in residential HVAC services.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• EPA Certificate (Preferred)
• Looking for someone with experience in all HVAC fields, Residential, Commercial, Geothermal
• Valid driver’s license and good communications skills.
• Must be able to lift or carry heavy objects of up to 50 pounds to include ductwork, furnaces or materials.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50-75 lbs.
• Ability to frequent stoop, kneel and crouch to work in tight spaces.
• Ability to climb and work from ladders.
• Must be able to work in both extreme heat and cold, as well as adverse weather conditions.
