Job summary

Southern Home Services seeks a Residential New Construction HVAC Mechanic to install and commission heating and cooling systems in new homes. You will read blueprints, follow building codes, and perform initial testing to ensure reliable operation.

You will collaborate with construction teams, maintain safety standards, and mentor helpers while meeting project schedules and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in HVAC system installation.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Proficient reading plans, diagrams, and specifications for accurate installation.

Responsibilities

• Install and inspect HVAC equipment and systems in residential settings.
• Descale tubing, braze copper, cut and thread pipe, install PVC drain lines, and connect low voltage wiring.
• Install and seal ductwork, install dampers and zone controls, ensuring proper airflow and serviceability.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean condition.
• Adhere to schedules and deadlines for project completion.
• Record faults, deficiencies and time/materials on work orders.
• Test joints for leaks using pressure gauges or soapy solutions.
• Teach/helpers on approved HVAC installation techniques.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
