Job summary

Youth Villages in Memphis, Tennessee seeks a Licensed Teacher to join our residential education team. You will plan activities to grow language and social skills, and guide youth toward less restrictive settings through trauma-informed care and structured learning within our campuses.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's with grade/subject endorsement, an active teaching license, and prior school experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with grade/subject-specific endorsement (required).
• Active teaching license in the applicable state (required).
• Experience working in a school setting (required).
• Experience working with youth with severe emotional and behavioral needs (preferred).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills.

Responsibilities

• Plans for individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and other skills.
• Develops and uses a variety of teaching techniques in the classroom.
• Produces lesson plans that reflect the individual educational needs of students.
• Administers testing and interprets results to determine academic needs.
• Maintains progress notes, attendance records, classroom grades, and testing scores.
