Qualifications

Responsibilities

Residential Handyperson

We are looking for a professional Handyperson with residential building maintenance and general repair skills to assist with the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment. This position will coordinate and complete all requested work, assign priorities, and follow up on completion.

Classification: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime); Non-Union

Location: Bronx, NY 10457

Essential functions/Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance work and makes repairs to properties as needed, including light plumbing, light electrical, carpentry, painting, plastering, and other general repairs
• Works closely with Property Manager/Superintendent who will help coordinate tasks
• Coordinates with tenants to set times to access apartments to make repairs
• Efficiently manages incoming service requests
• Repair of walkways and exteriors
• Tracks time and logs activities and the work completed for each job
• Completes renovation projects as needed
• Performs high-quality work with attention to detail
• On-call rotations with the Superintendent to respond to tenant requests and issues, with compensation provided for travel to the property

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with a successful track record as maintenance tech/handyperson
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including additional hours and adjusted shifts as required
• Experienced and knowledgeable in construction and maintenance
• Able to independently handle a wide variety of general repairs, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plastering, etc.
• Good at troubleshooting and problem solving
• Good communication skills to communicate with tenants and other staff effectively
• Good at using e-mail, text messages, and apps for business purposes
• Owns all tools needed for general handyperson tasks

Pay Range

$18.00-$19.50 per hour
