Job summary

VOA Illinois is seeking a Facilities Assistant to maintain cleanliness and assist with light maintenance at Hope Manor Village Joliet. You will work with the Property Manager and staff to prepare units, manage outdoor spaces, and ensure safe, welcoming spaces for residents.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, valid driver’s license, and reliable communication with residents and colleagues. Prior janitorial or maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, or facilities experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, tools, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting tasks, including surface preparation, touch-ups, and repainting of units and common areas as needed to maintain a clean and presentable appearance
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, common areas, hallways, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors; clean windows, walls, and fixtures.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling according to procedures.
• Works closely with office staff to ensure that apartment units are ready for showing and for resident move-in.
• Maintain outdoor areas including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf removal, and snow/ice removal as needed.
• Under the direction of the Property Manager, completes safety inspections and adheres to company key control policies.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing filters, tightening hardware, minor painting, and basic repairs.
