Job summary

Universal Health Services seeks a Residential Counselor for Mountain Youth Academy in Mountain City, TN. You will provide support, structure, and a therapeutic environment for adolescents undergoing behavioral health treatment.

The role offers full-time or PRN options with hourly pay between $18 and $22, plus shift differentials. Weekend and flexible scheduling are available to meet patient needs and workforce balance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree required in some cases.
• Preferred one year of health care experience.
• Verbal de-escalation skills to assist residents in regaining control.
• Functions as a community lead and can make quick decisions in crises.
• Clear communication with team and ability to mentor/shadow as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate support and supervision to patients/residents throughout their treatment experience.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment.
• Build trusting and respectful relationships with individuals in our care.
• Monitor patient behavior and communicate changes or concerns to the clinical team.
• Assist with daily activities, routines, and therapeutic programming.
• Encourage participation in treatment and reinforce positive behaviors.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Follow safety, confidentiality, and behavioral health policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, counselors, and other team members.
